I Learn America Oral History Project | 2017
Director Jean-Michele Dissard came to George Washington Middle School to host a workshop with students new to America. Here, students were provided with a safe place to share their stories, inspire one another, empower each other and build community by sharing their journeys to America. Students then chronicled their stories using computer animation, photos and voice overs in their native languages and embedded their stories in a mural painted in the school cafeteria to educate fellow students, teachers and community members of the complexity and harsh realities of immigration.

Disney's McFarland U.S.A. Actor Studio Presentation with Sergio Avelar | 2015, 2016
Students were experiencing various forms of bullying so Sergio Avelar was asked to come to the two middle schools in the Alexandria City Public School District to discuss the importance of education, family and community.
